| The series premiered on September 17, 1972 and ended February 28, 1983, with the finale becoming the most-watched television episode to this day. | |||||||||||||
| The external shots were filmed at the Fox Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains area of California. In 1974, the State of California purchased the ranch and renamed it Malibu Creek State Park.
